Forum 28 , Saturday 15 October.

Morning Session 10am to 12.45pm.

 This is a free but ticketed event, for aged 18 years and  above. 

 ‘Suicide bereavement is often a dreadful, isolating experience. SBS is hosting an event to highlight the challenges, and support available in our community, whether you are there for others or bereaved yourself, at whatever stage in your life journey. 

Together with  other charities and agencies who offer support  SBS are proud to present:  ’Supporting each other through loss’

Suicide Bereavement Support (SBS) for Cumbria and the surrounding area are hosting this event which brings Bev Bishop and her Finding Magic  performance to Forum 28, and gathers local volunteers, organisations, charities and support networks working with those bereaved by suicide in one place for the morning.  

Doors open at 9.30 am, hot drinks will be provided and the opportunity to speak with local support organisations about their work and what they offer the community.

The day will be opened by Cumbrian Andy Airey who many will have seen on BBC Breakfast news, which,  followed him and two other dads as they walked 500miles raising money in memory of their daughters (www.3dadswalking.uk). 

Bev Bishop, will be showing her performance, Finding Magic (Finding Magic | BeverleyBishop.com) the story of loss, longing, love and laughter, following the death of her son. Beverley uses storytelling, film, clowning and magic to introduce and demonstrate her new reality of unpredictable triggers, clichés and flashbacks. The audience are invited to share the new-found surreal humour she deploys to find peace after bereavement. 

If you have been bereaved by suicide or  other traumatic circumstances, are supporting someone who is, simply want to know more about how you can be involved, or are part of an organisation providing support for those in emotional distress, this is  a day for you. We are highlighting the impact of suicide bereavement, which has affected many of us in our community, and the day is about making sure that everyone who might  want support knows what’s available and how to get in touch.

The morning will be closed by Simon Fell MP. Local charities and other agencies who support those in emotional distress  will be exhibiting throughout. A ‘’here to talk’ space will also be available, with volunteers who can help with information or take contact details if you would like to talk in more depth outside of the event. 

Afternoon Session 1.45pm to 3.45pm

This is a FREE but ticketed event, for aged 18 years and  above. 

Based on the theatre show ‘Finding Magic’, join actor and therapist Beverley Bishop in these positive, interactive and life-affirming sessions that explore the magic of creativity. 

Bev will share some of the tools that have helped her find magic again after losing her son to suicide, and employ her trademark warmth, charm and humour to help you harness your own magic. Expect creative activities, opportunities to share stories and even the chance to enjoy a trick or two! 

Suitable for anyone aged 18 and above, who has been suicide bereaved.

If you have lost a family member, friend or colleague to suicide, you are invited to attend the morning and join us for this afternoon opportunity to come together with others, or attend for the workshop only. 

Whether you are attending both sessions, or the afternoon session, please join us for a light lunch before the workshop.
