Celebrating our teams...Sergeant Lindsay Brown, Partnerships Officer for Lancaster & Morecambe Police

Sergeant Lindsay Brown is a Partnerships Officer for Lancaster & Morecambe Police and has been in his role for three years. Sergeant Brown covers the Lancaster and Morecambe local authority district which includes Carnforth, Silverdale and the Lune Valley. He works as part of the Local Policing Supervision team and the wider team of Neighbourhood Policing officers and Community Support Officers.

Before his current role, he was the Neighbourhood Policing Sergeant responsible for Morecambe. A reorganisation of Local Policing created the partnership’s role to work across the supervision who cover Morecambe and Lancaster. The idea being to manage all multi-agency partnerships work. This allows the Morecambe and Lancaster Sergeants to focus on managing their teams directly and give partner agencies and organisations a single, consistent point of contact from the Police in the district to develop closer working relationships and solve problems together.

What does your role involve?
Sergeant Brown said: “Lots of meetings. Going out and engaging with organisations, groups and individuals to inform targeting activity, problem solve and manage demand. 

“Some great examples of this have been bringing together local partners during the pandemic to limit the effects on Lancaster & Morecambe. Obtaining funding to expand CCTV provision and other community safety measures in the district in particular the cycle track and town centres.”

What have been the best bits of your role?
Sergeant Brown said: “Meeting a wide variety of people, working together, and taking action – not just talking about it.”

What have been the challenges of your role?
Sergeant Brown said: “Managing expectations with extremely limited resources and an ever-increasing demand.”
