Vaccination pop up clinics in West Lancashire

West Lancashire primary care, NHS West Lancashire CCG, West Lancashire College, Lancashire County Council, Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust and third sector in West Lancashire worked together to rapidly mobilise and deliver pop up, pop in vaccination provision in centres of the community to address low vaccine uptake including those with underlying health conditions who were overdue their second dose.

Data was used to identify targeted populations and corresponding non-clinical centres within the community for vaccine provision. Data was also shared to target groups with underlying health conditions overdue their second dose for conversations with staff trained in health coaching and Making Every Contact Count (MECC) to encourage uptake. Co-ordination of the Lancashire County Council vaccine bus and the Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust (LSCFT) HARRI bus were part of the approach.

In a three week period, 21 vaccine sessions were delivered, totalling around 114 hours of vaccine session time. Over 1943 doses were given across West Lancashire, which included underserved groups such as asylum seekers, refugees and migrant workers.
