New 'Help in Preston' website launched

Date posted: 10th June 2019

A new website, which aims to signpost Preston residents to help they might need, has now been offficially launched.

The 'Help in Preston' website brings together information from a wide range of services, all based in Preston, and available to local residents. The website has the following sections, depending on the help you are looking for:

  • Benefits
  • Food access
  • Learning, working and volunteering
  • Money advice
  • Health and wellbeing
  • Housing and homeless
  • Emergency information

Councillor Nweeda Khan, Cabinet member for communities and social justice, said:

“The Help in Preston website is an excellent resource and I’d like to thank everyone involved in its creation and getting us to this point where we can officially launch it to the people of the city.

“If you find yourself in difficult circumstances and don’t know where to turn, remember this website address where you can find the help you need – www.helpinpreston.com

Suzanne Carr, CEO of Age Concern Central Lancashire, added:

“All Age Concern Services are proud to support the new Help in Preston website which is a much needed digital one-stop-shop for people in need of support within the Preston area, ultimately enabling people to enjoy a more fulfilled and independent life.

“We are looking forward to the launch and hope people will be able to find and access services quickly and with ease."

Preston’s Financial Inclusion Group has been instrumental in gathering helpful information, contact details for groups and organisations, and sharing case study stories of people who have been helped already.

Getting the website up and running couldn’t have happened without the help of partners either – most notably ICANN; Lancashire Community Finance; Community Gateway Association; Gift 92; Together Lancashire; Lancashire County Council ; Citizens Advice Bureau; Department for Work & Pensions; and Intact.
