We want the very best health and care system for people living across Preston, Chorley and South Ribble. We want to create the health and care services people have told us they expect to see.
Currently, despite our best efforts this is proving difficult due to some really tough challenges which are all well documented and often in the news.
So, the existing health and care organisations, services and professionals across our area are coming together in what is referred to as an Integrated Care Partnership (ICP). Making the best use of our joint resources is crucial.
The partnership will mean health and care organisations working together on a formal basis to agree priorities and make joint decisions. This will in turn provide an opportunity to develop better ways of working across health and social care which we know can have huge benefits for local people, staff and services. Some of these have been demonstrated by evidence from other parts of the country which have had additional funding to speed up these new ways of working.
We have formed a Partnership Board and will formalise our way of working through a single partnership agreement. The Partnership Board will be responsible and accountable to local people, regulatory bodies such as NHS England and NHS Improvement as well as the wider Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care System.
