Strategic Commissioning Committee

Due to the developments of integrated care and the changes as a result of the Health and Care Act 2022, the Strategic Commissioning Committee has now been stepped down. More information is available on the NHS Lancashire and South Cumbria ICB website

The Strategic Commissioning Committee ran up to May 2022 with a primary role to focus on delivery and decision making for the Lancashire and South Cumbria population with the authority to make decisions at a Lancashire and South Cumbria level. This committee replaced the Joint Committee of CCGs meeting which has been held since 2017.

The purpose of the Committee was to bring together the leadership of the eight Lancashire and South Cumbria Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) together with ICS strategic commissioning leaders who have collectively committed to improve and transform health and care services across the area, delivering the highest quality of care possible within the resources available.

The committee was chaired independently by David Flory CBE, Chair for Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care System.

COVID-19 Update – Strategic Commissioning Committee

Whilst under normal circumstances the public are able to attend formal meetings of the Strategic Commissioning Committee which is held in public, Government social isolation requirements constitute ‘special reasons’ to avoid face to face gatherings, as permitted by legislation. As a result, all meetings of the SCC were held virtually.

Previous Joint Committee of CCGs meetings:

Prior to April 2021, Joint Committee of CCG meetings have been held bringing together Chairs, GPs and lay members from each of the Clinical Commissioning Groups in Lancashire and South Cumbria. In addition, Chief Executives from Lancashire County Council, Blackburn with Darwen Council, Blackpool Council, representatives from district Councils and local Healthwatch attended the meetings. In March 2021, it was agreed that a Strategic Commissioning Committee would be established, replacing the current Joint Committee of CCGs meeting. The previous documents, agendas and papers for previous JCCCG meetings continue to be available below.

We recognise that the meeting papers are not currently in an accessible format and we are working towards fixing this for future meetings. If you require this document in a different format please contact us and we will look into your request.
