The coronavirus (COVID19) outbreak is having an impact on everyone’s daily lives, as the government and the NHS take necessary steps to manage the outbreak, reduce transmission and treat those who need medical attention.

It may be difficult, but by following guidance on social distancing, or staying at home, you are helping to protect yourself, your family, the NHS and your community.

To stop the spread of the virus remember Hands. Face. Space: wash your hands regularly, use a face covering when social distancing is not possible and try to keep your distance from those not in your household.

We are increasingly concerned about the significant increases in Covid-19 admissions. NHS services in Lancashire and South Cumbria are under a huge amount of pressure, but they remain open. As Covid admissions in our hospitals rise, it is important that we continue to provide services for our patients for treatments such as cancer and routine appointments. Patient safety remains of the highest importance. Anyone with concerns should continue to come forward for help and treatment. It is important that unless you are contacted, you should continue to attend your appointment as planned.

We are very concerned about the rising infection rates in Lancashire and South Cumbria. We all need to be aware of this worsening local situation, our hospitals are under a huge amount of pressure. As the number of Covid-19 admissions are rising steeply, it is important we take action now to protect our hospitals.
