A week of celebration as the Covid-19 vaccination programme begins in central Lancashire
Date posted: 17th December 2020Residents across central Lancashire have been answering the call to receive the Covid-19 vaccine since it began being administered in local GP surgeries this week.
Currently being offered to those over 80, many of those attending the site expressed their thanks to staff and their excitement at being able to look to the future.
Mrs McCann, who was one of the first to receive the vaccine on Tuesday said:
“I’m looking forward to having it. It’ll make me safe and able to go out to the groups I enjoy.”
At age 106, one resident proved that age really is just a number as she attended for her vaccination earlier this week. Mr Speak meanwhile, took the opportunity to celebrate his 93rd birthday in style!
Andrea Trafford, Operations Manager at The Chorley Surgery said:
“This is probably the most important thing we’ve ever done. There is such a buzz around the site and I’ve been humbled at the responses from our staff and local residents. We’ve even been invited to a 90th birthday party next summer when we can all celebrate together!”
As the vaccination programme continues across the area, please do not contact your local practice to book an appointment. Booking continues to be in order of priority based on national guidance and every individual will be contacted when it is their time.
