Practices in Morecambe, Nelson, Preston and Skelmersdale have started to take delivery of the vaccine, with the first clinics starting from Thursday 17 December and Friday 18 December.  This is in addition to the ten local vaccination sites already running in Barrow-in-Furness, Blackpool, Burnley, Chorley, Lytham St Annes, Preston, Ormskirk, Accrington, Blackburn and Lancaster.

Groups of health providers are setting up local vaccination centres in villages, towns and cities covering every part of the country.

Nurses, paramedics, pharmacists and other NHS staff are working alongside GPs to vaccinate those aged 80 and over, as well as care home workers and residents, identified as priority groups for the life-saving vaccine.

Like hospital staff, practice teams are working rapidly to redesign their sites and put in place safe processes to meet the tough logistical challenges of offering the vaccination.

The NHS will contact people in the priority groups when it is their turn to receive the vaccine.

Covid-19 vaccinations are now available in the following areas:

  • Accrington
  • Barrow-in-Furness
  • Blackburn
  • Blackpool
  • Burnley
  • Chorley
  • Lancaster
  • Lytham St Annes
  • Morecambe
  • Nelson
  • Preston
  • Ormskirk
  • Skelmersdale
