Covid-19 vaccinations commence in community settings in Chorley, South Ribble and Greater Preston
Date posted: 15th December 2020The first Covid-19 vaccinations administered by GPs in Chorley, South Ribble and Greater Preston took place today, Tuesday 15th December 2020.
Marjory Martin stated "I'm looking forward to the vaccine getting the country back up and running." At 08:00am, she was the first patient to receive the vaccination in a primary care setting in Chorley and South Ribble, administered by clinical pharmacist James Mawdsley.
Pictured above receiving the vaccination Marjory, accompanied by her son, was given a heart sticker which read "I've had my Covid vaccination" on her departure.
Olive McCann, pictured below, was next in line to receive the vaccine.
Olive remarked:
"I’m looking forward to it. It will make me safe and able to go out more."
Jane Scattergood, Covid-19 vaccination director for Lancashire and South Cumbria, said:
"It is fantastic that we are now able to start delivering vaccinations within community settings locally and we would like to say a huge thank you to the teams of Primary Care colleagues who are working together across Lancashire and South Cumbria to make this happen".

Patients who are eligible to receive a Covid-19 Vaccination will be invited to book an appointment.
If you have not received a letter, phone call or text message to book a vaccine, please do not worry, we will notify everyone in priority order when the vaccine becomes available.
We would be grateful if you do not telephone your GP practice, hospitals or other NHS organisations, please wait to be invited.
In Preston Ernest and Doris Dalmedo, husband and wife, were the first patients to receive the Covid-19 vaccination in a community setting at 9:00 am. Doris stepped up to receive her vaccination first, closely followed by husband Ernest, both pictured below:
