Clinic in Burnley to help low vaccine take-up

This week a vaccination clinic opened in Jinnah Development Trust & Community Centre in Burnley over a two-day period.

Following studies revealing that the take-up of the Coronavirus vaccination has been lower in some ethnic minority groups, this pharmacy-led clinic is one of many pop-up vaccination sites in Lancashire and South Cumbria which are being set up to vaccinate these hard-to-reach communities.

Anyone who is aged 50 and over or who has a long-term health condition can book their Covid-19 vaccination at one of the many vaccination sites across Lancashire and South Cumbria. Appointments can be booked via the national booking service online (opens in a new window) or by calling 119.

Mr Mohammed Nurul Islam, Pharmacy Manager for Brunshaw Pharmacy in Burnley said:

“I’d like to thank everyone who volunteered and supported the vaccination clinic – it was a real team effort and great success. All our appointment slots were filled quickly and the response from the people attending was very humbling. It’s vital that we do all that we can to ensure that this lifesaving vaccination is easily and quickly accessible to everyone. We know that some communities have been reluctant to come forward to get the coronavirus vaccination so, I’d urge anyone eligible to please book their appointment and would like to reassure people that the vaccine is safe and effective.”
